The Mid-County Democratic Committee (MCDC) is an organization formed to represent Democrats living in five municipalities in Delaware County: Chester Heights, Edgmont, Middletown, Thornbury, and Upper Providence. MCDC is one of the 34 municipal committees representing the 47 municipalities within Delaware County. The Delaware County Democratic Committee is one of 67 county committees that make up the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee, the governing body of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.
The committee members of MCDC are dedicated to recruiting, supporting and electing Democrats to local, state and national offices. Committee members:
- Support candidates for municipal councils (Chester Heights, Edgmont, Middletown, Thornbury, and Upper Providence), school boards (Rose Tree-Media, Garnet Valley, and West Chester Area), and Magisterial District Judges within our municipalities.
- Create and distribute campaign materials and canvass during elections.
- Advise on voter registration and staff the polls in our municipalities.
We are building a strong infrastructure for progress, and we welcome all residents who want to make a difference and get involved in local politics.
Our regular meetings are held at the Roosevelt School, located at 464 S Old Middletown Rd, Media, PA. Meetings are usually on the fourth Sunday of the month and are open to the public. Please check the calendar page before attending, as meeting dates are sometimes changed in the summer or during holidays. Meetings follow a set agenda, which is focused on conducting MCDC business. As a result – although there is an “Open Forum” section on the agenda – we recognize that there may not be much of an opportunity for newcomers to participate in meetings. We hope this website will provide you with sufficient background to understand our goals and how MCDC fits into the larger county, state and national Democratic Party.
We look forward to meeting you!
