Jeff Durst is running for a seat on Chester Heights Borough Council. He and his wife Christine have lived in Chester Heights since 2013, and are now raising their young daughter in the community. They were attracted to the area by the combination of established neighborhoods with open space, a strong school district, and an affordable cost of living. Professionally, Jeff is the Education Program Coordinator at Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware. He oversees all education programs, camps, family events, and a teen volunteer program. His 20-plus-year career in museum education has given him a keen eye for what attracts people to an area and keeps them coming back. He plans to bring that experience to bear while serving on borough council.
With his passion for history and nature, Jeff will strive to preserve Chester Heights’ historic environment and natural beauty through the passage of preservation and conservation ordinances. Following this path will promote smart development and adaptive reuse of existing structures, especially around the village center. Jeff believes strongly in bringing the residents of Chester Heights into the conversation. He plans to work with his fellow council members to hold town hall meetings so that the concerns of those living in the borough will be heard.
